The letter by Bishop Ratko Peric, addressed to Javierre Zorzo Ferrera, #SPABAT Commander in Herzegovina (Međugorje) related to the kidnapping of three Franciscan priests and three Franciscan nuns from the Parish in Konjic by the Muslim forces.
Mostar, April 17, 1993
Your Excellency Commander Zorzo,
We have been informed today by the Provincialate of the Herzegovinian Franciscan Province and Provincialate of School Sisters of Franciscan Nuns in Mostar, and this information has been also published today by Radio Mostar and Radio Zagreb, that the Muslim forces apprehended and took to an unknown place three Herzegovinian Franciscans and three Franciscan nuns from the Parish in Konjic. Their names are as follows:
Franciscan Priests:
Fra Zdenko Karacic, pastor
Fra Drago Colak, chaplain
Fra Stpan Saric, chaplain
Franciscan nuns:
Sister Dragica Banozic, abbess
Sister Skolastika Galic
Sister Ana Luburic
I am appealing to You, dear Colonel, to take on behalf of UNPROFOR, all available measures to establish if the above priests and nuns were taken by the Muslim forces and, if that is true, to undertake every possible activity in your power to have the above persons released and returned to their service in Konjic.
I would like to use this opportunity to thank You for all Your good services performed on behalf of the UN and wish you a happy Easter.
Please receive my greetings and expressions of my respect,
Ratko Peric
