VENCESLAV ILIC APPOINTED ACTING PRESIDENT OF BiH COURT

SARAJEVO, September 6 (FENA) – The High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of BiH has decided on Monday that the function of the Acting President of BiH Court, until the appointment of the new president, will be performed by the President of the Court’s Department for Appeals, Judge Venceslav Ilic.

As HJPC announced, the judges of BiH Court informed the Council that Judge Venceslav Ilic has replaced the president of the Court in his absence on several occasions, and thus the Council declared that he should continue fulfilling this duty until the appointment of new president.

The mandate of the former president of the BiH Court, Martin Raguz, expired today, in accordance with the Law on HJPC.

Raguz performed his duty honourably and professionally and in the service of all citizens of BiH, was announced by HJPC, with expressions of gratitude for his priceless contribution in building the rule of law in BiH.

HOLLAND DONATES US$ 555.000 FOR IMAP PROGRAMME ACTIVITIES IN BiH

SARAJEVO, September 6 (FENA) – The Government of Holland has allocated US$ 555.000 for supporting the Integrated Mine Action Programme (IMAP) of the UN Development Programme (UNDP) in BiH.

Ax UNDP announced, the funds are intended for supporting the activities of IMAP Project during one year. The Programme links anti-mine action with long-term economic development of BiH.

The Dutch donation will contribute to developing the final elements of coordination structures for anti-mine action in BiH, i.e. development of capacities for collecting funds and establishing the state office for issuing tenders.

In addition, the donation will support clearing of mined surfaces, which are of economic significance for BiH.

Holland has been one of the main donors of UNDP’s anti-mine action programme in BiH over the past six years. The donation represents continuation of successful cooperation between Holland and UNDP in reaching the ultimate goal of the anti-mine action – BiH cleared of mines by 2010.

SIGNED AGREEMENT ON COOPERATION BETWEEN FIPA AND HUNGARIAN AGENCY ITD

BUDAPEST, September 6 (FENA) – Representatives of the Hungarian Agency for Investments and Trade Development (ITD Hungary) and of the BiH Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (FIPA) on Monday in Budapest signed the Agreement on Cooperation between the two agencies.

The Agreement was signed by the Acting Director of ITD Hungary, Peter Spanjik, and Deputy General Director of FIPA Slavica Korica, was announced by BiH Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The ceremony of signing the Agreement, which determines the guidelines and domains of cooperation between the two agencies, was also attended by BiH Ambassador to Budapest, Mirsa Muharemagic, was announced.

COVIC, LOZANCIC AND COLAK VISIT PROZOR/RAMA

PROZOR/RAMA, September 6 (FENA) – BiH Presidency member Dragan Covic and FBiH President Niko Lozancic, and President of BiH HDZ Barisa Colak on Monday visited Municipality Prozor/Rama on the occasion of the Day of this municipality.

On the occasion, the President of HDZ BiH, Barisa Colak, opened the new telephone station at the settlement of Rumboci, and noted that this project, apart from the financial importance, will also provide better services for approx one thousand citizens of Gornja Rama.

Prozor/Rama Municipal Official Jozo Vukoja expressed gratitude to company HT Mostar for realization of the said project, worth approx. one million KM. 

BiH Presidency member Dragan Covic and FBiH President Niko Lozancic commended the successful projects that are currently being implemented in this municipality, and stressed that they are pleased that these projects will be completed by the end of the year. They concerns asphalting the road Prozor-Tomislavgrad, and building a sport gym in Prozor.

“With the State, Federation, cantonal and municipal authority levels, as well as the with the Government of Republic Croatia, whose representative, i.e. Ambassador in BiH Josip Vrbosic is also present, the citizens of Rama will enjoy even greater support in the future”, said Covic.

Namely, the ceremony of marking the Day of Municipality started with laying flowers at the memorial monument in Prozor, which was followed by the ceremonial session of the Municipal Council.

The senior officials also visited the Primary School 'Ivan Mazuranic' in Gracac.

MIKEREVIC MEETS REGIONAL DIRECTOR OF WORLD BANK

BANJA LUKA, September 6 (FENA) – RS Prime Minister Dragan Mikerevic on Monday held talks with the Regional Director of the World Bank, Orsalia Kalancopoulos, about the projects the Bank is implementing in RS, i.e. BiH, as well as about the future projects. 

WB Regional Director Orsalia Kalancopoulos said the World Bank is currently implementing 22 projects in BiH, i.e. adding that the WB Board of Directors would consider the BiH Development Strategy (PRSP) on September 16, this year.

She noted that WB would continue supporting the projects in the fields of reforming the health and pension-invalids’ systems. In this context, she announced that a team of experts of the World Bank would visit BiH in mid September to help the domestic institutions reform the pension-invalids' insurance system.

Mikerevic and Kalancopoulos also talked about corporative restructuring with the aim of accelerating privatization in RS, as well as about the problematic of accommodating the workers who will lose their jobs in the processes of privatization, bankruptcy and liquidation of companies.

Prime Minister Mikerevic briefed the WB Regional Director about the efforts the Entity Government is taking in this view, stressing that activities are in progress to implement the Social Programme for Accommodation of Workers, within which the RS Government has insured 9 million KM in this year’s budget, was announced by the Entity Government’s Public Relations Bureau.

MIKEREVIC MEETS EUPM COMMISSIONER

BANJA LUKA, September 6 (FENA) – RS Prime Minister Dragan Mikerevic on Monday received the Commissioner of the European Union Police Mission (EUPM), Kevin Carty, with whom he talked about the European Commission’s donation intended for procuring equipment for designing the identification cards for police officers in RS, i.e. BiH.

Mikerevic stressed that in the process of realizing the project, it will be necessary to fully respect the constitutional principles, primary those that refer to jurisdiction, language, writing and other Entity symbols.

RS Prime Minister added that the RS Government and the Ministry of Interior would take a clear stand on this matter and define the principles for the most efficient realization of this project, which will provide for full protection of the police officers’ identification cards, in accordance with the highest European standards.

On the occasion, Mikerevic underlined the commitment of the RS Government for establishing police structures that will suit all requests for protection of persons and properties in accordance with the Constitution and the laws of RS and BiH, was announced by the Government’s Public Relations Bureau.

PRESIDENT OF WORLD BANK VISITS MOSTAR

MOSTAR, September 6 (FENA) – President of the World Bank James D. Wolfensohn on Monday visited Mostar, as part of his two-day visit to BiH.

Together with BiH Council of Ministers Chair Adnan Terzic, Mostar mayor Hamdija Jahic and deputy mayor Ljubo Beslic, Wolfensohn visited the Old Bridge and the old core of Mostar.

“We were honored to participate in financing the recovery of the Old Bridge, but the success primarily depended on the love and caring of the people engaged in this project and they have done a remarkable job. Money means nothing without the people”, stressed Wolfensohn.

Mostar mayor and deputy mayor expressed gratitude to the World Bank on support, adding that the Old Bridge would probably not yet be recovered if it were not for the World Bank.

“James D. Wolfensohn had an enormous role in the process of recovering the Old Bridge, considering that this is the first project of recovering some cultural monument to be financed by the World Bank”, added mayor Jahic.

Wolfensohn will visit Sarajevo on Tuesday, where he will meet with representatives of the State and Entity authorities, and address the representatives of the BiH House of Representatives and the House of Peoples.
